Dear PENpals,
I’m considering making a podcast about the 1968 National Guard occupation of the city of Wilmington, Delaware, which lasted 9 months. Most people do not know about it. It would be a followup to the thing I’ve made that I’m most proud of.
For any PENpals who never heard my first (and only) podcast, here’s a link: https://pods.link/i/1112035445
There are four episodes, ~20 minutes each, highly produced (more This American Life than “two guys talking”). It’s about a guy who grew up in the juvenile justice system in Delaware. I made it for Ashley Biden’s nonprofit, The Delaware Center for Justice.
I got in trouble for making it. Still proud of it.
I think someone needs to parse out the experiences and meaning of the longest ever occupation of an American city after the assassination of Dr. King. And it happens to be our current president’s hometown.
Considering it.
Much love, PENpals,
Zach
